But Jonathan Kent was the one that dies because of altering time itself because Jor-el warned Clark that even though he would be able to save Lana, someone else was going to die in her place. He looks a lot taller because the perspective is on an upwards angle, that's also why his pants are so wide and his haori seems a bit smaller compared.
