This whole thing about being "different" is stupid. These people who ask these question ultimately want different policy. But it's fallacious to assume that changing the whole congress is necessary. What they really want is more of the people who agree with them, who are currently in the minority, or do not have a large enough majority, and fewer of the people who disagree with them. Let's make sure to change the right people.

Listen to Dodd! he's telling you what you want to hear! and he's telling what he's done, and he's teling you he's going to do and fight for the things you want! he doesn't need to be different! i would vote for him if i were a democrat.

Our system with its veto for the minority in the Senate and the ability for special interests to pay off key power players means that we can only get incremental changes passed. Only in a parliamentary system where one party has complete control until it loses power can you make a systemic change like universal single payer health care. Thats why all of the developed democracies that have a parliamentary system has one and we dont

I disagree. Mike Gravel is brutally honest and he's had a history of accomplishing things within our government. He's NOT BOUGHT OUT by big companies, unlike Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and he's the only one who'll make the U.S. people proud of their president again.

He's the exception, and how many Mike Gravels actually win the presidency? Zero.

That's what I'm fearing...but knowing that there is at least one presidential candidate who 1) doesn't flip-flop 2) is not afraid of telling the truth and 3) is someone I actually agree with on many issues restores my faith in the whole process for electing a president. Maybe Gravel will be able to awaken the apathetic voters into knowing that there exists a candidate worth voting for in 2008.

@stein: yeah i was thinking that through the whole "debate"... though i'm pleasantly surprised that the candidates wavered from conversational tones at times, and actually /debated/.
