Description: HAH! knew this video was gonna cause controversy. read on for an explanation please... FYI, each year our school has a HOLOKU pageant that features hula, samoan, tahitian, and in some cases maori dances. all instructors for each style of dance are legit, experienced, and very pleased and eager to share their culture and knowledge with us. we try our best to learn the dance and everyone works very hard. obviously everyone doesn't know the EXACT way to dance samoan, and our instructors don't have time to critique each and everyone of us until we get if perfect, so basically, DEAL WITH IT. im hawaiian and i dont get mad when people try and learn hula because at least they are making an effort to enlighten themselves about my culture. if you guys were there at the actual show, when the taupo came out, the floor was covered with samoans. they were all supporting her even though she wasn't samoan, and they ALL had a good time. i wish everyone would be open minded and not be so critical/hateful towards a fucken dance. and in case you're wondering, im the girl with the fake tat on her back, and the one who leads the girl's dance off. oh yah, and im the one dancing hula too. the name's ILIMA MACFARLANE. if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via comments.
